Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind was a 22-year-old member of the Spirit Lake Tribe who was eight months pregnant when she disappeared from her apartment in Fargo, North Dakota in August 2017. Her case garnered national attention and led to the passage of Savanna's Act, federal legislation aimed at improving the response to missing and murdered Indigenous women cases. The law requires the Department of Justice to improve data collection and coordination with tribal governments.
